Sally Glandon Barksdale

BARKSDALE, Sally Glandon, age 76, of Savannah, GA, passed away on September 29, 2026. Sally was born in Columbus, Ohio, and graduated from Upper Arlington High School in 1968. She attended Ashland College, where she was a member of Alpha Phi sorority, earned a degree in Elementary Education in 1972, and, most importantly, met the love of her life, Daniel M. “Dan” Barksdale. Sally and Dan married in 1972 and shared 46 years until his passing in 2018. Sally and Dan eventually made their home in Springfield, Ohio, where they raised their three children and became deeply rooted in the community. Sally worked for Springfield City Schools as a substitute throughout the 1980s and 90s, and then as a reading specialist and classroom teacher in the 2000s. Sally was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, where she participated in programs serving the surrounding community, including delivering Christmas gifts to families in need. She also enjoyed her longtime Bridge Group and the friendships she made throughout her life. After moving to Savannah in 2019, she started a Bridge Club at Summer Breeze and made many new friends.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin and Lisa Barksdale; daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Brad Boyle and Emily and Jim Kesterson; grandchildren, Blake and Macy Barksdale, John “Jack” Boyle, and Allison Kesterson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Philip and Lynn Glandon and Thomas and Lesli Glandon; sister-in-law Susan Barksdale; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dan. Sally will be remembered for her positive attitude and loving spirit.

Friends and family will gather for a memorial service at Wilmington Island Presbyterian Church on October 17 at 1:00 p.m. A service will be held later in Springfield, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, you may make memorial contributions to Hospice Savannah or Covenant Presbyterian Church in Springfield, Ohio.
